Aprilaire Model 550 Humidifier

The Aprilaire Model 550 bypass humidifier is our economy unit designed for smaller homes. This unit utilizes a manual humidifier control that can be installed in the living area or on the furnace ductwork (with addition of adaptor plate). Along with all other models (except model 400) it is equipped with a drain to flush minerals from the system. The model 550 has an evaporative capacity of .50 gallons per hour and can handle up to 3,000 square feet if the home is tightly constructed. The 550 has the smallest "footprint" of Aprilaire's humidifiers, requiring a plenum opening of only 9 3/8" X 9 1/2". The unit can be installed on the return or supply ductwork; the discharge is reversible for left, or right side orientation. An integral damper is built in to the unit - to close the bypass duct during the summer months.
